Yeah, I know, two posts in two days - actually it’s not that surprising, but oh well. Here are some layout breakdowns for Scott Caple’s class. Managed to get these knocked out in 8 hours. I’m quite proud of them! Inspired by Darren Rawlings‘ work, and The Incredibles.

Started out a lot more adventurous, but then I went with this. It will probably be deleted soon, haha! So, I decided I wasn’t satisfied with the previous revision, so I went back and drew up some lineart, and now here is the final sketch.

The images were taken by me, during a road trip this summer.

Here are some designs: the ones on the left are for Pete Emslie’s Character Design, showing contrasting characters (Tall, Lanky Female and Short Fat man). The Mignola inspired Mr. Freeze was finished a while back, but I finally had some time to find and scan it. I have another piece I painted with a mouse in Sound Design class but forgot to grab it from the server at school, I’ll post that up once I am able to get it.

A speed paint I finished this morning (after this entry was posted, but I didn’t feel like posting a new one). Just a quick one, which usually means a field or forest, where perspective is a little more forgiving. Anyways, for November 11th.

Just some in-class caricatures of some friends/classmates. Some are recognizable and others are not. From top left clockwise: Anna, an unfinished Kyle, Chang, Domee, Erin, and Taylor.

A background painting I did for painting class last year. The assignment was to paint a concept illustration for a specific scene in a novel, mine being Alice and Wonderland. It was one of the very few paintings of mine I liked - so here you go! I would have posted it sooner, but it was lost until a few days ago.

Ok, so I said I would post a new entry or whatever I said before I went and deleted it, but these are just scribbles. A more polished sketch is still in the near future (tonight?) but for now you can take these sketches as whatever you want.

I just started watching the AMC show “Mad Men”. It’s sort of slow to start off but I’ve heard it gets better. I don’t think you need me to explain why Joan is my favorite.

Whenever I get frustrated and don’t know what to draw I tend to just put the pencil/pen down to the page go crazy. Continuous line drawings are slowly helping/hurting my skills - I am not exactly sure how, but it’s just a looming thought in the back of my head, so I try and not overuse it.

Just some faces. The first was a lady on the GO train who was pretty focused on winning a game on her phone. The others are from memory, including one of Amy Winehouse.

This girl was on the GO Train. Pretty funky character to draw. Didn’t have my sketchbook with me - this was doodled when Cheyenne was over and colored this morning while watching TV and drinking tea.

I promise I will post something of substance, rather than these terrible sketches. Anyways, I should be working now.

Above is a color key for a storyboard assignment. The final boards are below, I am pleased with the final, it was a fun assignment! Just a side note, it’s not safe for work, fully nude woman.

Below is a greyscale thumb of a “Vault” for Scott Caple’s class. I am happy with how this turned out, I pulled an all nighter to get the two assignments done. My designs may be too repetitive but I like a strong contrast in my designs. So the relation of big to small, and the size of the room in comparison to the human interests me. Enjoy.

I drew these last night (the ones below) while watching “A Fish Called Wanda”, “Smiley Face” and “My Cousin Vinny”. They are for a sketchbook that has to be handed in at the end of the semester.

Looking back I am not all that pleased with them, but I guess it doesn’t really matter. And yes, Phelps is missing the inner parts of his ears.
